You are human, you deserve to eat! We make sure after the long day of commute and your visit to stop for something to eat. We stop ONLY at fast food restaurants in that area! 
Eastern Shore Transit provides affordable pricing, so families can use the shuttle service to Maryland State Correctional facilities because "How do we expect our love ones to feel apart of the community upon release, if we do not extend ourselves to visit them to remind them what having a genuine community feels like" Terrell Kesler. Eastern Shore Transit wants to be apart of the initiative of keeping families connected and putting a stop to long distances between home and correctional facilities which can  break or confuse family bonds.

"I want to be apart of the the opportunity to help families stay connected with their love ones incarcerated. I was encouraged from my own personal experiences and was given the perspective from the inside to the out. I learned the importance of having the personal connection  compared to a letter or overpriced phone call. It’s not only beneficial to the family members visiting, but the family member incarcerated  as well. Several of my family members, who were all  incarcerated at Maryland Department of Correctional facilities,  express to me via phone“How can I do the right thing or begin to learn to do the right thing, when I don’t have people from the outside  to come here and check on me or show me love. It hurts, I know I did wrong, but I want better. I just need people to show me better. Prison is all I know because that is all I am around." That revealed to me that we needed a external community source to bridge the gap of keeping those incarcerated connected to the outside world which can reduce the recidivism rate by helping families to problem solve, develop solutions and create a plan for when their loved ones will be released back to the community. Most inmates believe that their love ones choose not to come visit and then over the course of time feel abandon, but that is not always the case. Prisons are miles away from residential communities, in rural areas and the commute requires reliable transportation. To those who may think prisoners do not deserve visits, I understand that those who are incarcerated must take accountability for their actions and those they may have victimized. But it is up to us; the community, to ensure the innocent are not left behind, that family bonds are never broken, that those who are serving hefty sentences for non violent minor offenses are not forgotten and that one day when the individual returns back to society he or she would have maintained positive humane connections that will transition with them back into the community!  ”

What to Expect

Please visit the State of  Maryland Department of Public Safety Inmate Locator to ensure your loved one is at the correct facility prior to booking, but also to find your family member's SID or DOC number. Eastern Shore Transit will not be accountable and will not provide any refunds for customers who went to the wrong facility as stated in our terms service agreement.

To all customers please remember your love one's SID number and or DOC number. These identification numbers are important during the process when you have a family member incarcerated.


What is a SID or DOC #

It is the number that the Public Safety Correctional Facilities uses to identify your loved ones unfortunately and not by their name. These numbers will be used to send mail, money and needed for the visit for verification. Once again, please refer to the Maryland Department of Public Safety Inmate Locator for the needed identification information. You will need it during the entire process while your loved one is incarcerated with a Maryland Correctional Facility. 

Policies:

1. YOU MUST BE 16 OR OLDER TO ENTER ANY CORRECTIONAL FACILITY IN MARYLAND ON YOUR OWN. PARENT(S) OR GUARDIANS, MUST COMPLETE A PARENTAL CONSENT FORM  FOR INDIVIDUALS 16 OR 17 YEARS OF AGE, WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT  EASTERN SHORE TRANSIT WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR  CHILD  FOR THE SERVICE IF YOU CHOOSE TO SEND YOUR CHILD 16 or 17. ANYONE UNDER 18  WE ADVISE THAT PARENTS OR GUARDIAN  ACCOMPANY THEM FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION OF THE TRIP. 

2. ALL VISITORS WILL HAVE TO GET FINGERPRINTED IN ORDER TO ENTER ANY MARYLAND CORRECTIONAL FACILITY AS OF 2019, FOR SAFETY AND PRECAUTION REASONS FOR EACH VISIT. IF ANY VISITOR IS IN VIOLATION OF MARYLAND CORRECTIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY'S POLICIES,  VISITORS WILL BE HANDLED THROUGH MARYLAND PUBLIC SAFETY & CORRECTIONS AND NOT EASTERN SHORE TRANSIT!  WE, AS A TRANSPORTATION COMPANY WILL  ENFORCE THEIR RULES OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY CORRECTIONAL FACILITY! 

YOU MUST BRING YOUR STATE I.D EACH TIME FOR AGES 16 & UP THE !

Please review the policies for each facility that you plan to visit via the link below. No matter which facility you visit in the State of Maryland,  we are not responsible for anyone who is turned away for not wearing the correct attire. Please ensure you are not entering the facility with the intent to attract and ONLY the intent to visit. Correctional Officers do have the right to turn you away for what they deem is as inappropriate. Please review the details on attire for each Location.

Please review our Terms Service Agreement in regards to your property and your vehicle for the duration of your service. Eastern Shore Transit will not be responsible for your vehicle under any circumstances while using our transportation services. All Park & Rides are public places and accessible to all. 


Round Trip
This service is a round trip service to and back from the facility of your choice. 

Minimum Duration

Correctional facilities are reserved the right to  conclude visitations for individuals, the entire group and facility. The minimum visiting duration for all facilities is 1- Hour 



 

Maximum Duration

The maximum visiting duration is up to 2 hours, for facilities that Eastern Shore Transit is scheduled to visit, we stay for the entire visiting ouf period.



Fast Food

Eastern Shore Transit does make sure that for trips to correctional facilities that are more than 1-hour and 30 minutes away, that we stop at fast-food restaurants in the area for your nourishment. Please understand for local facilities such as Jessup or Sykesville, we will not make any stops due to the short distance.    



Reschedule

In the event of  any other circumstance outside of Eastern Shore Transit that would result in a rescheduling of your transportation service for the scheduled date, Eastern Shore Transit will not provide any refunds for reschedules, but will ensure customers are rescheduled to the next available date or receive a credit, based on the discretion of Eastern Shore Transit. Please understand that at any point the correctional facility can cancel due to the conditions of the facility, safety concerns and for any unforeseen reason. We WILL not provide any refunds and will reschedule the service due to the continuous possibility that the correctional facility can cancel visits  at any moment. Please refer to our Refund Policy for further details. 



Payment Plans

We now offer customers payment plans for facility transportation services. Customers can start paying on their transportation services as early as 2 months prior to the date of service. Our payment plan option gives customers the opportunity to pay  two payments on their services without the inconvenience and pressure of the full charge.   Once you received your invoice or quote from Eastern Shore Transit, please review our payment plan options and policies to see if your service or service total amount qualifies for a payment plan.
